Why The Philadelphia 76ers Do The Deal
The 76ers do this deal for the same reason Morey often does deals. They’re getting the best player in it.
Granted, it won’t be an easy decision to make. Maxey has real star upside, and Harris is a vital member of this team. At the same time, Lillard is comfortably better than either.
Meanwhile, Harris is replaceable. The Sixers would simply give more playing time to P.J. Tucker and Danuel House Jr. He’s a more polished offensive player than either, but they can replicate his floor spacing.
Furthermore, Lillard replaces Maxey directly. Philly’s future takes a hit here, but their title odds improve.
