In fact, it was always obvious that the Lakers valued Kuzma. 

He was a member of their 2019-20 championship team. There’s a world in which he wasn’t. In fact, seeing Kuzma on the roster came as a surprise to some. 

After all, the Lakers traded a lot of quality young players to the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for Anthony Davis. Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, and Larry Nance Jr. all had to pack their bags. Yet, the Lakers opted to keep Kuzma. 

They didn’t keep him for long. A couple of years later, the Lakers made another big trade – this time for Russell Westbrook.
