Why The Charlotte Hornets Do The Deal
The Hornets went into last summer with one clear directive – get a center.
In the draft, they got one. With the 15th overall pick, the Hornets selected Mark Williams out of Duke. It was a reasonable choice and one that may pan out.
At the same time, William hasn’t done enough in his rookie year to earn the confidence that would keep the Hornets from acquiring another young big. In fact, they might as well do so. That way, they’ll have two shots at acquiring their long-term center.
If both man out? Trade one. If neither pans out? Keep looking. Either way, the Hornets still need a long-term big to pair with LaMelo Ball.

With his outstanding combination of length and vertical leap, Wiseman could still be a lob-finishing big man who defends the rim.
Should the Warriors miss out on that potential development?
