Why The Los Angeles Clippers Do The Deal 

For the Clippers, this is about roster construction more than anything. 

With a healthy Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, and Reggie Jackson, they’re got ample perimeter scoring. As talented as Powell is, he’s arguably redundant on this roster. 

On the other hand, this team doesn’t really have a big stretch man. The Clippers routinely run wings like Nic Batum at the 5, and that’s fine.

Still, having the option to run someone with a little more height who still keeps the floor spaced should appeal to them.

Wood does that well. Meanwhile, the Clippers can assume his defensive effort will at least continue through the season. As a team with title aspirations, they can decide on whether to invest in Wood long-term this summer.
