The Pistons would do this deal if they like Toppin. From our perspective, there’s a lot to like. 

After all, Toppin is a hard-working, versatile defensive 4. He covers a lot of ground in transition on both ends and guards multiple positions. In many ways, he’s an archetypical modern 4. 

He may have more to his game than we’ve seen in New York. After all, Toppin has been buried behind Julius Randle throughout his NBA career so far.

If Toppin has some additional offensive game in his arsenal, this could be a steal for Detroit.
