If you’re a rebuilding team in the modern NBA, you’re probably concerned with landing first-round picks in any transaction.
After all, you’ve got to keep up. The Oklahoma City Thunder have a historic amount of draft capital. The New Orleans Pelicans have their own stockpile, and the Houston Rockets control the Brooklyn Nets’ draft through to 2027.
Meanwhile, the New York Knicks have their own stockpile of draft capital. With that said, they’re not necessarily a rebuilding team.
Like the Pelicans, this group is competitive in addition to having those future assets.
In all likelihood, they’d still like more. The Knicks have made their intentions obvious – they want to trade that draft capital for a star. If that’s the goal, they couldn’t have too many assets.
