This deal benefits Phoenix in a number of ways. 

For starters, it nets them a Chris Paul replacement. Josh Giddey isn’t exactly a replica, but he’s a jumbo point guard with tremendous floor vision. He could be this team’s point guard of the future. 

Furthermore, Houston’s 2024 pick is a valuable asset. As it stands, the Rockets are the worst team in the NBA. They could make strides next year, but this is still a valuable pick. 

Finally, Dort is one of the best defensive wings in the NBA. He can replace the absent Jae Crowder on some level.
