The New York Knicks have been better than a lot of people thought that they would be this NBA season. Tom Thibodeau may not be perfect, but he has the team playing well and has made the necessary adjustments to get the most out of this group.

Over the last month, New York has been playing its best basketball of the season. Since an embarrassing loss to the Dallas Mavericks on December 3rd, the team has been playing at a high level.

Since that point, they are 13-6, pushing their record to 23-19 overall and into sixth place in the Eastern Conference. During that stretch they have been one of the best overall teams in the NBA, excelling in both offensive and defensive ratings.

Given how well they are performing, it is unlikely that the Knicks would make a big trade that would shake up the rotation too much. But, they shouldn’t pass on the chance to upgrade the roster One name to keep an eye on according to one NBA executive is Eric Gordon of the Houston Rockets.

“They’re not far away from serious contention in the East. A player like Eric Gordon could be a piece that puts them over the top,” the executive told NBA Analysis Network. “I think there’s a good chance they pull the trigger on that kind of deal.”

Already possessing a solid rotation, bolstering the depth at shooting guard and on the wing could be one direction they decide to go in. Gordon would certainly help in that regard as his skill set could be used.

The Knicks rely a lot on Jalen Brunson, Julius Randle and RJ Barrett to create offense for the team. Gordon would provide them with another player that can create offense and get a bucket in the halfcourt.

New York has also struggled shooting 3-pointers this season making only 33.9 percent of their attempts, which is 25th. Gordon is making 36.2 percent of his attempts this season and is a 37 percent shooter in his career. He is also a capable defender capable of guarding wings with his 6’9” wingspan.

A steady veteran, Gordon would be a solid addition to what is a very young, inexperienced Knicks rotation. The only playoff experience all of the rotation other than Brunson has garnered was from the 2021 postseason when the Knicks were eliminated in the first round by the Atlanta Hawks.
