Realistically, the Point God would be fourth in this team’s pecking order. All told, he’l be behind Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, and Tyler Herro in this team’s pecking order.
In all likelihood, that means spacing the floor and making good decisions. Paul can still do that. In fact, at his age, that might be a perfect job description for him.
This isn’t a surefire deal for the Heat. If Paul continues to decline, they’re saddling themselves with an extra year of contract for no reason.

At the same time, he should be good enough to make this team considerably more competitive in 2022-23. Even at his advanced age.
