Why The New York Knicks Do The Deal 

The Knicks may want to trade for a star. In today’s league, that’s not as simple of a proposition as it used to be. 

After all, we’re in the age of player empowerment. Generally, a star player has some say in their trade destination. They’ll simply let it be known that they’re only interested in playing for certain teams. 

With that in mind, it benefits the Knicks to be a desirable destination. They’re already partway there. The Knicks play in the league’s biggest market, and at 22-18, they’ve been fairly competitive this season. 

Adding McDermott will make them better. He’s one of the best floor spacers in the NBA.
