Why The Utah Jazz Do The Deal
It’s been an interesting season in Salt Lake City.
Heading into 2022-23, this team was widely expected to tank. As the season began, they didn’t appear likely to do so. At first, the Jazz looked good.
Lately, they’ve come back to earth. The Jazz have some solid players, and they’re well-coached, but they clearly don’t have enough to contend for a title. This deal has them accepting that reality.
Some would suggest that trading Sexton is pointless, even if the Jazz are rebuilding. After all, he’s young. Sure. At the same time, the Jazz already have two selections in the upcoming draft.
