Meanwhile, tanking may not be a viable option for the Bulls in the eyes of some. 

After all, they do owe their upcoming draft pick to the Orlando Magic – with top 4 protection, that is. With that said, that shouldn’t deter them from triggering a rebuild. 

If they’re lucky, and they tank hard enough, they could hold onto the pick. The Bulls are close enough to the bottom of the standings that they could hit it by season’s end if they make these types of trades. 

Even if they don’t, that pick is a sunk cost. Keeping this mediocre roster together to avoid sending it to the Magic would be short-sighted. This deal offers them two first-round picks and a swap in exchange for LaVine.
