Why The Oklahoma City Thunder Do The Deal 

LaVine may not be a leading man on a contender. On the other hand, he ought to be an elite third banana. 

That’s what the Thunder would be hoping for here. Obviously, this team is built around Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Given his performance this year, it’s hard to put any ceiling on his potential. 

Unfortunately, we weren’t able to get a look at Chet Holmgren this year. The number two pick in the 2022 draft had a season-ending injury over the summer. Regardless, nobody could deny that he has star upside. 

With that in mind, LaVine could be the missing piece in the Thunder’s contention puzzle. Meanwhile, they have so much draft capital that they’d still have plenty to spare following this deal.
