Sometimes, the question isn’t, “What do I need.” The question is, “What do I need the most?” Let’s say you’re grocery shopping. Money is a bit tight. You may feel like you really need that bag of chips – but you need those vegetables more. NBA teams need to find the same balance sometimes.
A team may have more than one need, but in all likelihood, they won’t have the resources to satisfy them all. They need to decide what they need the most.
For example, the Dallas Mavericks need a secondary playmaker. They may have other needs, but that’s what they need the most.
On the other hand, the Atlanta Hawks have two primary ball handlers in their backcourt – they’re good in that regard.
Both of these teams could become natural trade partners, with the Mavericks needing a combo guard while the Hawks could benefit from shedding some salary.
Could these two sides strike a deal this season?
