Orlando Magic

Orlando Magic Receive: G Patrick Beverley, 2027 First-Round Pick (Lottery Protected – LAL)
Los Angeles Lakers Receive: C Mo Bamba

It’s especially unfortunate to see Davis hurt this year. After all, he was returning to the form that once made him a former MVP candidate.

With that in mind, the Lakers won’t be able to outright replace him without paying an arm and a leg – if then. That shouldn’t be the goal. The Lakers need to target players who can make up a portion of Davis’ production, and then co-exist with him when he returns.

Players like, for example, Mo Bamba. He’s not nearly on Davis’ level, but he’ll protect the rim while Davis is unavailable. When he returns, Bamba’s ability to space the floor and Davis’ defensive versatility should make them a viable pairing in the frontcourt.

As for the Magic, it’s clear that Bamba is not their big man of the future. Both Wendell Carter Jr. and Bol Bol have jumped him in this team’s pecking order.
