That’s not a coincidence. If any team is looking to blow up their roster this season, the Lakers ought to covet their stars. This team is old and doesn’t have a pick in the upcoming draft. The time is now. 

Meanwhile, the Wizards ought to look to the future. Two first-round picks and a swap may not feel like excellent value for Beal, but in this case, it is. Given the state of the Lakers, their future draft picks hold special value. 

We wouldn’t expect the Wizards to covet Westbrook here.
