Success is measured by standards. Everybody has a different one. That is undoubtedly the case in the NBA, too.

For example, some people are wired to make money. Until they’re millionaires, they won’t be satisfied. On the other hand, some people just want a simple life – they’ll be content with just enough. 

NBA teams need to set standards too. Success doesn’t look the same for all 30 of them. Each team needs to determine what their own measure of success for a season is. 

The Los Angeles Lakers should be setting a high bar. With LeBron James on their team, their standard for success is title contention.

While the team’s play has improved lately, they still look well short of that standard.
