Wood may be a flawed player, but he may also be exactly the player the Nets need. 

After all, they need a stretch big man to compliment Simmons. As a non-shooting lead ball-handler, he’s struggling to co-exist with Nic Claxton. Landing Wood helps to open up the floor for him. 

Meanwhile, Wood’s defensive limitations should be masked by Simmons’ strength in that area. All told, there is a synergy between these two that could prove irresistible to Brooklyn. 

Of course, Wood’s potential character concerns could be an issue in what’s always a seemingly volatile locker room. It feels like this deal is still worth that risk – the basketball fit is simply too strong.
