For a while, it looked like the Lakers would be making a bigger deal than this one. 

After all, they had a disaster of a season in 2021-22. Meanwhile, the beginning of 2022-23 didn’t look any better. Most observers expected this team to seek out a superstar contributor – at a high cost. 

That may no longer be necessary.

Lately, the Lakers are rolling. Still, this team looks short of title contention. Adding an injection of offense could be exactly what they need.
