Why The Chicago Bulls Do The Deal
This isn’t necessarily a tanking measure for the Bulls. We’re not 100% sure this deal won’t make them better.
It’ll certainly improve their defense. Robert Covington is one of the best defensive wings in the NBA. Meanwhile, Morris is an upgrade over DeRozan in that department as well.
On the other hand, if this deal doesn’t improve them, that’s not such a significant loss either. This team is 10-14 – they don’t really have anything to lose.
They do have plenty to gain. For example, a distant future first-round pick from an aging, injury-prone team.
