Why The Los Angeles Clippers Do The Deal
Let’s get one thing straight: this deal won’t help the Clippers if Leonard can’t get right.
Frankly, nothing will. Leonard is supposed to be a top 5 or so player. There isn’t a player that’s even a remotely realistic trade target who can make up for the loss of him. At the same time, a player like DeRozan could help the Clippers avoid that fate.
That’s part of the deal for LA here. With DeRozan in tow, they can afford to rest Leonard more often. An offense built around him and Paul George ought to keep this team in the playoffs.
Imagine what an offense built around all three of them could do. The Clippers would look like a super team.
