This feels like good value. The Lakers are old, and thus, their long-term future is uncertain. The right to swap picks with them in the distant future is therefore highly valuable.
Meanwhile, losing Washington helps them bottom out ahead of what’s seen as an elite draft. If the Hornets get lucky, they could be adding a generational player to a core that already features LaMelo Ball.
