Demar DeRozan and Ben Simmons are more similar players than one might think at first glance. 

They’re both primary ball handlers with shooting limitations. With that said, there are still greater differences between them. Namely, DeRozan can create his own shot, and while a limited shooter, he’s not a non-shooter like Simmons. 

Meanwhile, Simmons is a better passer, but DeRozan is no slouch in that regard. The main negative trade-off the Nets are making here will come on the defensive end of the floor. 

It ought to be worth it. DeRozan’s mere willingness to shoot the ball ought to create an unstoppable offensive dynamic alongside Durant and Irving.
