Why The Detroit Pistons Do The Deal 

Frankly, Bertans may have been just as good of a target for this Pistons team anyway. 

Surely, they didn’t acquire Bogdanovic thinking they’d make a deep playoff run. It feels more likely that they wanted to bring in a player who would complement their young backcourt. Bertans serves those purposes. 

Of course, that’s not the primary reason for the Pistons to make this deal. They’re doing it for the first-round pick.

Since they’re among the worst teams in the NBA this season, they ought to prioritize the future.

That holds especially true in light of Cunningham’s potentially season-ending injury. This is a lost season for the Pistons – it doesn’t have to be one for Bogdanovic.
