Some would say that prospects like Wiseman and Kuminga are lucky.
In a sense, they are. Most players their age don’t get the benefit of learning from players who have won championships in recent years. At the same time, there are drawbacks to their situation.
We already touched on their short leash. That means they don’t get the same developmental reps as other prospects.
For example, look at young guys like Anthony Edwards and Jalen Green. They struggled as rookies, but since they were allowed to work through those struggles, they now look like future superstars.

Kuminga and Wiseman haven’t been afforded the same luxury. As a result, it’s more difficult to make those kinds of declarative statements about their futures.
