Why The Los Angeles Lakers Do The Deal 

 As a matter of fact, the Lakers may already be turning it around. 

Don’t look now, but the Lakers are on a three-game winning streak. They’re far from out of the woods, but it is encouraging to see them show signs of life. 

If this continues, perhaps they don’t need to make a blockbuster deal. Acquiring a solid, low-usage veteran could be a means to improvement without surrendering key assets. Rudy Gay could be that guy. 

After all, he’s a smart veteran. Gay’s versatility as a combo big could be particularly valuable here.
