Don’t blame yourself if you had counted Markkanen out, though. 

A lot of people did. Arguably, they had good reason to. History says that his odds of breaking out in the manner he has in Year 5 were always slim. 

In fact, most star players start producing like starters by their sophomore campaign. Meanwhile, Markkanen, to this point, had been egressing since his rookie campaign.

As a rule, that’s not a good sign.
