Why The New York Knicks Do The Deal 

Quickley may be good, but the Knicks don’t seem to want good young players. They want draft picks: 

Lots and lots of draft picks. 

As it stands, they have one of the deepest collections in the NBA. This deal makes it deeper. Some day, they’ll likely use that collection to trade for a star player. 

In fact, we already know the Knicks tried to do exactly that this summer.

They may have fallen short in their pursuit of Donovan Mitchell, but rest assured, they’ll be trying to land the next disgruntled star to hit the trade market.
