Why The Utah Jazz Do The Deal 

Many observers assume that Utah’s early success has owed to noise. They expect the team to regress. 

Consider this a bet on themselves. That’s true in two ways – they’re making a win-now move and trading their own first-round pick in the process. 

That’s fine. The Jazz still own the Timberwolves’ upcoming pick. As it stands, that’s the more valuable of the two assets. In adding Davis, the Jazz could keep it that way. 

After all, Davis may be compromised by injuries, but he’s still one of the most impactful two-way big men in the NBA. Given how the Jazz have played to begin 2022-23, adding such a player could make them championship contenders.
