With that said, some may argue Doncic doesn’t need a co-star. As it stands, he’s the poster boy for heliocentric offense. 

That’s the term for a team that runs an unusually large percentage of its attack through one player. Obviously, that player has to be an incredible playmaker. Doncic comfortably meets that standard. 

This model can definitely win games. At the same time, it has a limited track record in the playoffs. For years, it was James Harden’s role on the Houston Rockets. Those teams always had a glass ceiling. 

Until they added Chris Paul, that is. The 2017-18 Rockets reached the Western Conference Finals, and if not for Paul’s torn hamstring, they might have won it all.
