If the Lakers aren’t going to move Russell Westbrook, they need shooters. This deal brings in three of them. As a bonus, Powell can create his own shot. In all likelihood, he’d be the Lakers’ third option immediately. 

Still, Covington may be the biggest prize here. He’s a great 3-and-D wing, and the Lakers badly need one. Meanwhile, Kennard is the best pure shooter in this package.
