Why The Miami Heat Do The Deal 

Some will argue that they are not. They’ll look at this haul and say it’s far too underwhelming. Why would the Heat give up Adebayo for two decent players, two first-round picks, and a swap? 

Well, one of those first-round picks could be Victor Wembanyama. 

The Heat may not want to rush to do this deal today. They could still turn this season around, and for that matter, so could the Lakers. With that said, if both of those teams are still in a hole in a couple of months, this should tempt the Heat. 

Meanwhile, there’s a world where they need Valanciunas’ floor spacing more than Adebayo’s defense too. This deal is a win-now downgrade for the Heat, but it could make their roster fit better.
