Why The New Orleans Pelicans Do The Deal
As good as Williamson has looked this season, his defense is questionable.
Like many puzzles related to the generational prospect, that owes to his unique frame. At roughly 6’6 and 285 pounds, Williamson’s combination of vertical leap, relative speed, and sheer power make him a devastating offensive player.
Unfortunately, that same frame makes him an injury liability, and a weak defensive player.
By contrast, Adebayo is one of the league’s best stoppers. He can guard at least 2 through 5, and function as a primary rim protector. Adding him at the expense of the slow-footed Valanciunas will give the Pelicans’ defense a much-needed boost.

Moreover, Adebayo’s offensive game should complement the rest of this roster. As constructed, they don’t have a true point guard. Adebayo is one of the best passing big men in the NBA. His playmaking would give this group a significant new wrinkle.
Are the Heat getting enough back for such a player here?
