Houston Rockets
Brooklyn Nets Receive: G/F Eric Gordon, F Jae’Sean Tate, C Boban Marjanovic, 2023 First-Round Pick (MIL via HOU)
Houston Rockets Receive: G/F Ben Simmons
Another deal, another veteran Western Conference shooter.
Of course, if the Nets are moving Simmons partly for his inability to shoot, shouldn’t they target a shooter? This deal has them landing one. In fact, Eric Gordon’s ability to space the floor and create his own look could be perfect for this team.
Don’t make the mistake of selling Tate short, either. He’s a versatile defender with some playmaking chops on the side. Meanwhile, he may not be a reliable shooter, but at least he’s a willing one. Throw in a first-round pick (even if it’s likely to convey 30th), which is good value for the Nets.
As for the Houston Rockets – they probably need a point guard. At 2-9, the Kevin Porter Jr. experiment is looking like a failure. He’s a talented player, but he’s not the type of floor general who can orchestrate an offense.

For all of his flaws, Simmons is – and at 25, he’s still a suitable trade target for the rebuilding Rockets.
Could he be a suitable target for another rebuilding Western Conference team?
