Of course, intentions are influenced by motivations. 

Every NBA team has different motivations, as well. For example, a team that’s focused on the future may be motivated to lose. On the other hand, there are certain motivations that every team shares. 

For example, any team should be motivated to get off of a bad contract. Granted, rebuilding teams can stomach them more than contending ones – they have more time to let the contract play out.

Still, a bad deal limits any team’s flexibility, and every team is motivated to be flexible.
