Why The Cleveland Cavaliers Do The Deal
The Cavaliers shouldn’t have any reservations about letting Okoro go. As it stands, they’re hardly using him anyway.
Moreover, at 5-1, they don’t seem to need him. In fact, the Cavaliers don’t seem to need anything. With that said, drawing that conclusion from a 6 game sample size would be the biggest mistake of all.
Heading into this season, most agreed that the Cavs needed a wing. At the moment, they’re starting Caris LeVert at the 3. LeVert is a more talented offensive player than Martin, but he may not be as good of a fit with the starters.
After all, Martin is a 3-and-D wing. By contrast, LeVert is a scorer who doesn’t space the floor or defend consistently. Moving him into a sixth-man role could be major for the Cavaliers, as could adding Martin’s skillset.
