In fact, it would be fair to say that, in general, NBA players are judged according to where they were drafted. 

If a player is a lottery pick, they’re generally expected to produce as a star. On the other hand, if a player is selected in the mid-to-late first round, a consistent spot in NBA rotations is considered a success.

Finally, if a player is selected in the second round, they’ll be happy to land a second NBA contract. 

Of course, players fall short of expectations – and exceed them, too. Nikola Jokic and Draymond Green were both second-round picks. In hindsight, either should have been selected in the top 5.

Caleb Martin isn’t quite that type of success story. Still, as an undrafted player, he’s certainly exceeded expectations. In fact, his 3-and-D skill set ought to assure him of a place in any NBA rotation.
