Meanwhile, the Jazz could be the right team to offer him one. At the same time, this deal isn’t about getting Hachmura for the Jazz – it’s about getting worse. Conley is the most impactful player in this deal, so moving him should increase their loss total, and in turn, their lottery odds. 

In fact, some may argue that Conley is impactful enough to deserve a first-round pick. Perhaps. On the other hand, he’s undersized, a defensive liability, and aging.

If the Jazz can’t get a first-rounder in exchange for him, taking a flier in Hachimura and improving their own lottery odds should be sufficient value for the veteran floor general.
