Why The New York Knicks Do The Deal
The Knicks have been better than expected this year. With that in mind, it’s hard to say Fournier or Reddish have been a huge part of that success.
Neither is necessarily having a bad season, but both are expendable. There is a chance that, by adding Kevin Love, the Knicks would get better.
After all, as constructed, the Knicks don’t have a stretch big man. Love adds a new dimension to this team. He could operate as a sixth man, soaking up minutes at the 4 and the 5. Still, this deal isn’t really about 2022-23 for the Knicks.
It’s about clearing Fournier’s contract. After all, Love is on an expiring deal, while Fournier’s runs for three more years. Meanwhile, his production is not matching his salary.
