Why The Los Angeles Lakers Do The Deal
By now, the whole world knows what the problem is in LA. This is one of the worst shooting teams in the NBA.
Russell Westbrook shoulders a lot of the blame, and in fairness, he deserves his share. On the other hand, Anthony Davis is not an elite shooter either. All told, having the two stars share the floor is simply not feasible.
So, this deal has the Lakers acquiring a boatload of shooting. Frankly, the most valuable player they’re receiving here may be Martin. He’s exactly the type of 3-and-D wing that LeBron James plays well with.
Of course, Robinson is an elite floor spacer as well, even if his defense is lacking. That’s a problem the Lakers can’t afford to worry about. For that matter, so is Lowry’s age-related decline.
