Why The Toronto Raptors Do The Deal 

As we said, this is a pretty marginal deal. The Raptors aren’t looking for a full-time starter here, nor are they parting with one. 

With that in mind, the Raptors need to be considering fit. The question is less whether Robinson is a better player than Boucher, and more whether he’s better for them. Through that lens, the answer seems obvious. 

After all, this Raptors team has a tremendous number of players who can man the 4 spot. Between Pascal Siakam, Scottie Barnes, and OG Anunoby, they may have too many. This deal helps diversify their roster. 

Of course, there’s another similarity between all of those players – they’re all playmaking wings. Meanwhile, Gary Trent Jr. is this squad’s only significant catch-and-shoot specialist.
