By that logic, this is a risky deal for the Nets. Some would argue that they made a mistake in trading an overwhelming amount of draft capital to the Houston Rockets in exchange for James Harden.
Moreover, others would say that they compounded that mistake by trading Harden for Ben Simmons.

Wouldn’t trading another first-round pick for Simmons’ benefit compound the mistake further? Perhaps. On the other hand, the Nets are already this deep. One could argue that they need to build a contender at all costs.
