Why The Miami Heat Do The Deal
We already questioned whether Turner and Adebayo could co-exist. Let’s talk about it.
Offensively, there’s no reason the pairing couldn’t work. Adebayo may not shoot, but he’s one of the best playmaking big men in the NBA. His passing vision will only be enhanced by having a floor-spacing big like Turner alongside him.
On the defensive end, this pairing also checks out. Turner is a great drop coverage big man, and he can survive switches when need be. On the other hand, Adebayo is strong on the perimeter, and also a capable interior defender. In other words, they’ve got both bases covered.
Some fans don’t care for twin towers lineups. Fair enough. In the modern, pace-and-space NBA, they aren’t always viable.

With that said, this isn’t a traditional twin towers look. Adebayo is capable of functioning as a 4 on the defensive end, and that answers any potential concerns about this pairing.
