For a long time, big men ruled the NBA. In fact, their rule went largely unchallenged for decades.
Intuitively, that makes sense. A regulation NBA net is 10 feet above the ground. Being 7 feet tall, in theory, should make it easier to put the ball in the basket.
In recent years, guards have begged to differ. The three-point revolution has changed the way we view basketball. With that said, there will always be a place for big men. They just need to be able to either shoot the 3, or defend it.
Myles Turner falls into the former camp. In fact, he’s one of the best three-point shooting big men in the NBA.

Meanwhile, Bam Adebayo falls into the latter camp. He’s not much of a shooter, but he can defend the perimeter as well as anybody who plays the center position.
