Why The Philadelphia 76ers Do The Deal 

The Sixers do not need Georges Niang. That is their main motivation for moving him here. 

After all, P.J. Tucker is one of the best 3-and-D power forwards in the NBA. Even Danuel House Jr. is ahead of Niang in this team’s depth chart. The Sixers are already reducing his minutes – why keep him on the team? 

By contrast, they could use Jones. Granted, they’ve got a quality backup big man in Montrezl Harrell. Counterpoint: is Harrell a big man? 

At times, he can play like one. Still, Harrell is only 6’7. Having a true center like Jones in the second unit would be valuable for this Sixers squad.
