Why The Washington Wizards Do The Deal 

Some Wizards fans won’t love this deal. Many of them may have their eyes on Victor Wembanyama. 

Fair enough. If the Wizards were ever going to trade Beal and start from scratch, this would be the year to do it. On a related note: it doesn’t seem like the Wizards are going to trade Beal and start from scratch. 

If not, Green could certainly make them a better team in 2022-23. His pairing with Porzingis is especially intriguing.

In fact, he’d be perhaps the best drop coverage rim protector Green has ever played alongside. With that in mind, he’ll be able to freelance on the defensive end at will.

More broadly, Green just brings an element of championship experience to this roster that it’s sorely lacking. If the Wizards insist on putting the best team they can around Beal, Green is a good addition.
