NBA draft enthusiasts will know that there is some irony in this deal.
After all, the Boston Celtics had every opportunity to select Markelle Fultz. They landed the first overall pick in the 2017 draft but decided to trade back to third and select Jayson Tatum. Believe it or not, that was a controversial decision at the time.
If you’d seen Fultz in college, you’d know why. He was the most dynamic offensive player in the draft. In fact, he was garnering James Harden comparisons.
Unfortunately for Fultz, things haven’t worked out that way for him at the NBA level.

In fact, his rookie season was downright concerning. Fultz could barely hit a free throw in his first season. In light of those conditions, the rest of his career has gone relatively well, although injuries have held him back.
