Some Magic fans will say this deal is premature. To be sure, they’re giving up a lot of draft capital for a team that just picked first overall. 

Moreover, they’re giving up their chance to get on the Victor Wembanyama sweepstakes. With that n mind, consider this move a vote of confidence for the young talent they already do have. 

For what it’s worth, they have a lot. Between Paolo Banchero, Franz Wagner, Jalen Suggs, and Cole Anthony, the Magic have plenty of talented young players. On the other hand, they’re basically all playmakers who struggle with floor spacing. 

With that in mind, Brown could be the perfect co-star. He’s a two-way wing who can create his own shot and feast on catch-and-shoot opportunities.
