Every rule has its exceptions. Generally, one of the Lakers or Celtics has ruled the NBA’s roost. Not throughout most of the 1990s – Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls wouldn’t allow it.
In fact, the Bulls enjoyed a dynastic run that could only be compared to those of the Celtics in the 60s. On the other hand, with all due respect to those Celtics, the league had 8 teams, and half of its players smoked cigarettes.
If you wanted to claim that Jordan’s Bulls were the best dynasty in NBA history, it would be hard to argue against you. The Bulls were utterly dominant. Unfortunately, the organization has had a hard time replicating its success ever since.
Last year, the Bulls fielded a competitive group. A star trio of DeRozan, Zach LaVine, and Nikola Vucevic ensured as much.

Still, 46 wins and a first-round playoff exit hardly qualify as contending for the title. If the Bulls weren’t satisfied with that outcome, they should make changes heading into 2022-23.
