Why The Los Angeles Clippers Do The Deal
We already mentioned the Clippers’ surplus of wings. Frankly, it borders on excessive.
At the same time, it ought to intimidate opposing teams. The Clippers have two star wings in Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. Meanwhile, Robert Covington and Nic Batum are both high-end role-playing wings. If you said the Clippers had the best rotation of wings in the league, it would be hard to argue.
On the other hand, their guard rotation leaves a little to be desired. Norman Powell is good, but he’s as much a wing as he is a guard. John Wall could be due for a big comeback season, but he’s not a sure thing.
Finally, Reggie Jackson is solid, but as the best guard on a contending team, he’s a little uninspiring.

From that perspective, landing Barton is a straight talent grab for the Clippers. He’ll find a role due to his versatile game. Barton can play the 1, 2, or 3, and he can make plays for both himself and others. All told, he’d make a great addition to this roster.
After all, if there’s one thing you can’t have a surplus of in the NBA, it’s talent.
